Your destiny is never tied to anybody other than yourself.

A unique mixture of economic simulation, strategy game, historical life simulation and role playing game in 3D!

Europe in the year 1400: The dark middle ages, once dominated by nobles and the clergy, came to an end and a new era begins: the age of free, prospering cities, trading and an open mind-set!

One of the goals in the The Guild series is to create a family dynasty which can last for centuries. While the world around you and your dynasty rearranges itself time and time again – all non-player characters (NPCs) make their own decisions –, you have to prove your skills in artisan craftwork and trading, participate in social occasions and perfect your political schemes and malicious intrigues.

About The Guild 3

The Guild 3 is currently in development.

For the sequel of the popular The Guild series, THQ Nordic, holder of rights and publisher of the series, was able to hire the Canadian developer GolemLabs in 2014. GolemLabs has a lot of experience with strategy games and artificial intelligence, as they developed the renown Superpower 2. The Guild 3 makes use of the very powerful Darksiders engine.

If you want to know more about game mechanics and the objective of The Guild, read through the four in-depth categories we have prepared for you:

NEW – March 2018

Saved Games :

If you are still getting crashes caused by loading a saved game from the most recent patch 0.4.1, there is possibly a fix that might help. Right now, when a saved game is considered as corrupted, which means that a saved game is missing information when the game is trying to load it, it is no longer displayed in the list of saved games. However the saved games remains in your computer’s directory where the saved games are located. The solution that might help is to delete all old saved games in the directory and then trying to load the most recent saved game.

Note that this problem will diminish over time and at the launch of the game. Everytime we add or change elements in the game, there can be conflicting information which can cause these crashes. As we progress we are ironing out these problems.

General questions

Where you can buy the game : At the moment, you can buy the game on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/311260/The_Guild_3/) and GOG (https://www.gog.com/game/the_guild_3)

Price : It is only 29,99 € / 24.99 £ / 29.99 U$ for now. When the game leaves Early Access, the price will rise.

Why Early Access : The Guild is an established brand with a loyal userbase that has been waiting for many years for this sequel. As we’re nearing completion and balancing/polishing the game, we want to have feedback from as many fans as possible, to be sure the finished version will meet everyone’s expectations, and that we’ll be able to incorporate as many of our fans suggestions as possible, before the official release.

How long for the Early Access : We haven’t set a fixed end date as this depends heavily on you, but we assume a duration of at least 4-6 months.

Release date : We still don’t have a release date, since we are currently in Early Access. At the moment, we aim at Q2 2018.

Price at release : When you buy the game now (in Early Access), you will get updated continuously until the day of full release for free. At release, the price will be announced. The TG3 key stays valid after the Early Access. So you won’t have to buy it twice.

If you already pre-ordered : The boxed version (Aristocratic Edition) will include a DVD and a Steam key. But everyone who already bought the boxed version via Amazon etc. has to wait until the official release for his/her Steam key. If you want to take part in the Early Access and if you have pre-ordered the box, then we suggest that you cancel that order and then buy Early Access on Steam or GoG.

Full version of the game : The only differences between the Early Access version and the full version will be those made due to feedback from the fans, and of course final fixes. We also plan to add more languages and scenario maps.

Current state : Early Access is playable but in great need of balancing and (performance) optimization. Participants can expect bugs, that we will fix during Early Access. At the beginning of Early Access, the game will be playable in English and German only – more languages (e.g. French, Spanish and more) will be added by the end of the Early Access period – voice output will follow at release.

Community : We will interact with the community regularly on every platform of the game – please note, that all Early Access related threads will be deleted at the end of the Early Access phase (on Steam). Most of all, we’ve setup a Redmine bugtracker for every bugreports (https://redmine.thqnordic.com/projects/the-guild-3-early-access). Please be aware that we will focus mostly on this platform for bugreports. Even if we read everything you say on all platforms that we announced.

Additionally to that, we will use the following Discord server during the Early Access, where you can give us feedback as well (we will try to read everything, but this will not be a 24/7 support service). https://discord.gg/CGnN2Vb

Efficient Bug reports : We have a fan that made an efficient post about how to help us the most. Go and see it for yourself: http://steamcommunity.com/app/311260/discussions/0/1496741765148051084/

Multiplayer : Multiplayer is not implemented at the moment, it is disabled. We are still working on it! It will come up somewhen in the first months of 2018.

TG2 Renaissance : While waiting for the official release of The Guild 3 ;-), if you want to play The Guild 2 Renaissance, here are the patches that you would need to download. First one leads to all patches; the others lead to the latest patches.

Known Issues

Resolution : If you have trouble with the resolution and/or with the window mode, then please try the following: end the game and then delete the folder “C:\Users\[user]\Documents\Guild3

Optimization/Unplayable game : We are looking into resolving issues that are connected to the optimisation of the game. Optimisation is among our highest concerns & want to offer the best experience possible for the widest range of configurations.

Maybe a solution: Set your graphic card “not ingame” but in your card control panel to 1280 x 720.

Starting the game (Black screen) : Change Desktop Resolution in Windows (any resolution might work, but usually lowering helps) and launch the game again.

Starting the game (music but no window) : This fix only concerns those of you who get a black screen & can hear the sound when starting the game. STEAM users will receive the notification to start the game in “safe mode”. If you have had a black screen problem, please accept. If not, you can decline. GOG users can reach the notification manually by starting the file “Guild3SafeMode.bat” in the installation folder. The options can be changed afterwards with a restart.

Black Screen : When you receive a message saying ”Could not initialize the graphics subsystem. Change the resolution to %ix%i [windowed] (the program will have to be restarted manually for changes to take effect)?” when starting the game, you will receive a prompt asking if on the next attempt, you want to start the game at the minimum resolution in windowed mode. You need to accept it. Once you are in the game, you will be able to change the resolution if you want to.

Save and Load (Doesn’t work) : The Save and Load issues are one of our highest priority and it can take the longest to resolve. If possible, go on our Redmine, make a report and please attach the Save Game file to the report.

Save and Load (Frozen) : If your game is frozen after loader a save, and if you can click on buildings but no characters are moving, select the “P” key on the keyboard or the Pause link on the HUD situated on the top right corner of the screen.

Buildings (Shortcuts) : In case you want to add more building shortcuts (like the keys 1 for your residence and 2 for the nearest marketplace) simply select the building and then press ctrl + the desired number key.

Buildings (Click) : If you’re not able to click on any buildings, go to the main menu (ESC) and back.

Buildings (All black) : When a building becomes black, you simply have to click on the key “Tab” again. It simply happens when you click on Alt+Tab or Shift+Tab.

Pausing the game : When pausing the game and going to the main menu, game unpauses automatically. Unfortunately for now, we have no solution. Avoid the main menu when on pause. Also, after re-loading a game, if the game is in a “Pause” state, you can press the “P” key or select the link on the HUD to un-pause it.

Clicking in the game : When you have problems with the “click” in the game, for now, you can try and wait one or two seconds before clicking again. It will help in many cases.

Interface/UI problems : As we have announced before the EA started: we will replace the UI step by step. It is being redesigned right now. At the moment you can notice a mixture of brand new and old UI elements. We are porting to the new interface style as quickly as we can, and in the coming weeks we’ll try to always have new windows and components ready to use. But yes, it will all be done during EA.

Interface/UI Problem (Production Menu) : We know that the Production Menu is not working properly at the moment. We are currently working on transferring features that are still connected to the old production menu to the new one. As we move forward during the EA, we will complete the Production menu and its features.

Long distance trade routes : (When they work) Once you have reached the title “Patrician” you can send your transporters to far trade markets. If the market is “connected” via river or sea, your transport moves to the closest port and then set sails with a ship there. For the moment, trade routes is not completely optimized and will be soon.

The Game

AI : The Master AI/AI is a sensitive issue and will therefore take time to complete. It is one of our major focusses as we progress over the course of the Early Access Roadmap. Once ready, the Master AI will be connected to the game and then adjusted if need be.

Controls (How to walk and control characters) : To select your character, there are two options. One; “double-click” with the left mouse button on the avatar’s portrait on the top left hand side of the screen, which will simultaneously center the camera on the avatar. Or two; press the “C” key on your keyboard. To displace your character, “right-click” with the mouse on the location you want your character to go to.

Controls (Camera) : To move the camera, there are two options. One; you can use the key on the keyboard “W,A,S,D” or the directional arrows on the keyboard. The center “scroll” button on the mouse has two functions. One; Zoom-in and out is controlled by “scrolling” up or down and the angle of the camera is controlled by pressing and holding the “scroll” button all the while moving the mouse.

Tech support : When you need help with The Guild 3, you can go on our official forum: http://forum.nordicgames.at/forums/969-The-Guild-3-Technical-Support

Updates : Yes, we are constantly working on regular bug fixes to help you with the last version of the game.

Business 101 : At this early stage, a fan made an efficient guide to play the Business side of the game. Feel free to go and read it to help you play the game: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1148869259

Multiplayer code : No you can’t change the code for multiplayer, its function is disabled in the code at the moment.

PS: Please note that this will be updated and as much as possible. So keep coming back. Thank you!
