Game Feature: Social Titles

Of all the improved features and characteristics that we have done in the game, the social titles are one of the most important. This week, we will give you more information about them, just to give you a bigger picture of what’s coming your way 😉

First, there are three main social title categories: commoner, citizen and noble. Each one of these categories (and the titles in between) will give you different gameplay possibilities, enable a specific set of mechanics to the player, all the while introducing those of the subsequent step. Between these three main social titles, there are some others like serf, yeoman, patrician, nobleman, squire, duke, archduke, etc. (to name only a few).

The progression of your character will be defined by the accumulation of experience points (XP) earned. And your character will earn experience points through many things! Like your character’s actions, your businesses’ sales, your residence(s), your family (your children’s experience and marriage), etc. In fact, every action gives you experience points; from crafting, to selling, to robbery. Or even from setting a house on fire 🙂 It still gives you experience points! As you do so, you will unlock new abilities, professions, skills, items to craft and titles.

Your player’s progression will be gradual. Everything is separated in three major sections, directly associated with the three social title categories.

As you begin the game, you start as a serf. It is the first title of the Commoner category. You are poor, unknown, and you are not even a skilled character. You have a (poor) house that enables you to do basic activities like eating and sleeping. But you can’t have a business for now and you can’t hire employees right away. This is when you learn about the basic products, businesses, skills, etc. You choose one skill from the skill tree, and then you go the market, you generate a product and you practice at getting better and better! But be careful: there’s a twist…

We left you hungry for more (we hope) last week, so here we go: we know we told you that you start the game as a commoner, but in reality, it all depends on the family that you will choose in the beginning. Let us explain: you will select a map and a family in which you’ll play and after you create your character. Then, with that in mind, the settings of that particular map could present you with very different gameplay possibilities. You could end up with an easy one or a tough one to start with…

Now, let’s go back to the social title categories; the second one is the citizen. With this one, you have the opportunity to unlock more skills and more businesses. You learn about management and trade with your new business and you can finally buy a second house. Finally, you can enter the political world! It can be difficult to make your place because you still have to manage your businesses and your employees by yourself. But don’t worry, it’ll come!

Besides the two social titles that we talked about, there is also the nobles of The Guild 3. When you earn enough experience points and have enough money, you become a noble (manner of speaking of course; don’t get carried away… 😉 ) and you can build a noble house (that looks more like a mansion than anything else).

Once you attained this title, it is assumed that your businesses are well managed (automatically). You will always have the possibility to manage your business if you still want to, but you won’t be forced to do so. Therefore, you have the chance to enter the political aspect of the game more intensely. Meaning: now you have little minions that can manage your businesses and you don’t have to look after them all the time. You have some free time. So you can either enjoy it and have the quest to unseat every other dynasties or to become sovereign yourself… it’s your choice to make ;-).
