Scenario map – The Burgundian Netherlands

Here we are, with another amazing map to showcase from your game of The Guild 3! Like most of you know, there will be many scenario maps available when the game is released. So this week, let’s talk about the Burgundian Netherlands. In this unique scenario map, you will find three very different cities: Antwerp, Bruges and Utrecht.

Historically speaking, the Burgundian Netherlands are known as one of the richest areas in Europe because, even during the Middle Ages, they have been enjoying a really strong economical development. More specifically, with several agricultural developments, along with crafts and commerce, the Burgundian Netherlands started to develop at a fast pace during that period. Existing towns (as well as new ones) grew bigger around monasteries, farms and castles, resulting in a population boom. All of that, along with important trading links reaching as far as Asia and North Africa, transformed the Burgundian Netherlands into an area where it was clear that the economical activity was established and that sustained growth was possible. Antwerp and Bruges are two fine examples of towns that developed into some of the most important cities and ports in Europe.

Now, let’s go back to our scenario map of the Burgundian Netherlands in The Guild 3! First, there is Antwerp, a fortified city with strong walls, with a magnificent fortress and a big solid-looking castle! In the middle, you will find many businesses taking place in the market. And as you can see in the picture, Antwerp is a city that screams nobility and wealth.

Second, there is Bruges, a more commercial and tradesmen’s city. In the Bruges scenario map, you can see many farms, inns and businesses, on top of a beautiful port since this city is a strategic location for trade.

And finally, there is Utrecht, mainly a religious and scholarly city. You will find lots of churches and schools in this one, with a beautiful cathedral and plenty of businesses to be found.

All three wonderful cities are surrounded with several fields and windmills! To this day, the very image that comes to mind when we think of that area. Enjoy the map!
